What is Epicure?

Epicure is the only industry-endorsed software that performs a full 360-degree analysis of a resident’s nutrition and dining experience. Developed by The Lantern Alliance in 2013, Epicure’s proprietary process is a robust 2-day onsite program that can be applied to any aged care setting to assess the quality and process of each dining experience through engagement with residents and staff.

Within 1 week of our onsite visit, you will receive a comprehensive report based on over 5000 touchpoints of real data collected during the visit. Epicure provides powerful insights and strategies that promotes culture change to guide you towards measurable, positive results. Equally important, is the Epicure Rating which clearly shows you how your organisation is performing against the critical and mandatory Aged Care Quality Standards.

Everyone Benefits

Improved reputation

When residents and their families are satisfied with the dining services, it reflects positively on the overall quality of care provided by the facility. This can lead to positive word-of-mouth recommendations and increased client satisfaction.

Long-term cost savings

Residents are less likely to experience health complications or malnutrition-related issues, reducing the need for costly medical interventions and purchase of food supplements.

Increased staff satisfaction and morale

As staff see positive outcomes and the impact of their efforts on residents' lives, they will take pride in their role in promoting the health and happiness of residents.

Improved resource management

As a result of improved health outcomes, reduced risk of malnutrition, enhanced immune function, fewer hospitalisations and better overall resident wellbeing.

Minimised food waste

Due to residents enjoying and finishing their meals, rather than food being returned to the kitchen.

Epicure is Robust and Reliable

Epicure software is not a trendy app, or a piece of software developed overnight in someone’s garage. Epicure was developed over an 8-year period involving 39,000 hours of research with over 7200 participants across Australia.

With 11 research papers published during this time, and our results based on real-time monitoring of residents and staff, the team at Lantern Alliance could not be more confident applying the Epicure analysis process to your aged care homes.

The results we have achieved for our clients is a constant testament to the reliability and accuracy of Epicure. We are more than happy to refer you to some of our satisfied clients.

What Does Epicure Measure?

Maybe the title should have asked, “What Doesn’t Epicure Measure?”. We leave no stone unturned as we capture data and information related to:

  • Nutritional status
  • Physical health
  • Menu
  • Food Service Systems
  • Appetite
  • Mood
  • Dining experience
  • Food taste and flavour
  • Built environment and atmosphere
  • Food/menu choices
  • Resident, family, and staff consumer experience

We often say, “If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it!”

Why Do You Need an Epicure Rating Report?

If you are a responsible aged care provider, then you know how imperative it is to meet the Aged Care Quality Standards. This is even more critical with the upcoming new Quality Standard related to Food and Nutrition. Epicure will not only highlight where you are performing well, but more so pinpoint any opportunities to further improve. By implementing changes based on your home’s results, Epicure will guide your organisation towards 5-star performance in the food, nutrition and dining experience space.

Epicure is More Than a Report

Receiving your Epicure Rating Report is not the end of the line. This is where the action really starts! The real value of Epicure for your business lies within the culture change that comes with Lantern Alliance supporting and empowering your team on the journey, where needed, to implement guided Epicure strategies over the next six months.
Every six months, we return to conduct the biannual review, share details about your progress and the impact your actions have had on your service provision, and provide you with an ongoing support plan.
We understand that changing staff habits, processes, and organisational culture, does not happen overnight. When you invest in Epicure, you invest in a tried and true 3-year program with the Lantern Alliance team guiding you and your staff along the journey.
